What are some basic do\'s and don\'ts of manning a trade show booth?

Answered By Editor

Sales persons and companies spend a lot of money each year exhibiting at industry trade shows in order to gain new customers and sales. Here are some of the do's and don'ts in manning or operating trade show booths:

Do's:

* Show an enthusiastic attitude.

* Keep things organized.

* Be prepared to answer questions.

* Keep calm or stay cool and give your brightest smile in facing difficult customer questions or concerns.

* Make company product literature readily available.

* Maintain a well-organized exhibit and quickly handle questions.

Don'ts:

* Do not exaggerate your trade show by adding a great gimmick, game or giveaway that will overshadow the real purpose of your exhibit.

* Do not overstaff your booth.

* Do not place a table or counter in front of a booth as it usually discourages booth traffic.
